Crews continue to work on the West Liberty Foods Athletic Complex south of the high school. The Larry and Gloria Dlouhy concession stand is completely enclosed. This building will be a huge improvement from the concession and restroom facilities at our current baseball and softball fields and will be larger than the current building at Memorial Field. Bleacher work on the home side is almost complete. Crews continue to put the finishing touches on this, which will include a ramp at the north end, stairs at the south end, and a vomitorium in the middle for spectators to exit the bleachers to the restrooms and concession stand.
Concrete work continues around the entire complex. All but a small portion of the curb is complete around the inside of the West Liberty Athletic Booster Club track. You can now see the outline of the high jump area at the south end of the track. You can also see where crews have started preparing the long jump area. The long jump will be located at the south end of Giri Family Stadium, outside of the track. This was done in an effort to keep sand off the track and out of the field turf.
Workers have also made progress on the West Liberty State Bank, Office of South Ottumwa Savings Bank ticket booth. It is exciting to be able to see where the entrance to the complex will be as they continue to make progress inside the complex.
Lastly, we appreciate your understanding to stay out of the construction area. There are a number of trucks in and out of the complex throughout the day and safety is our top priority. Thank you for your understanding.
Progress is also continuing at the new ELC site!
