On Monday, May 8th Mrs. Henderson, Bryson Garcia, Eric Yao, Betsy Bejarano, Lizbeth Aleman, Jose Camarena, and Evan Beal traveled to the University of Iowa to attend Design Dash. Organizers of Design Dash cited the target audience as being "entrepreneurial-minded, startup/innovation, engineering, design, hackers, tech gurus, problem finders/solvers, creatives, gamers, 3D and artists." Attendees were able to work with industry partners in a one day fast paced entrepreneurial excursion. Students had to select a topic that was meaningful to them and try to create a solution with a business model to solve the problem. Some examples of problems they addressed were time management, nutritional food options, and bullying just to name a few. After working with their teams to find a solution they had to pitch their solutions to a panel of judges.
This is the first year we had students participate in Design Dash. It was a great experience and the students found great value in the activity! Here are some pictures of our students in action:
