Monserrat Ruvalcaba, Angela Cobos Fernandez, and Alejandra Garcia Chacon finish 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively in Eastern Iowa Community Colleges "Latino Poetry: Places We Call Home"  event!

On Wednesday, October 23rd five West Liberty High School students and Señora Saucedo participated in Eastern Iowa Community College's Latino Poetry: Places We Call Home event! Students who participated were Alejandra Garcia Chacon 9th grade, Monserrat Ruvalcaba 11th grade, Angela Cobos Fernandez 12th grade, Alexis Dominguez 10th grade, and Dennis Perdomo Cruz 10th grade. Each student read the poems that they wrote in front of the audience and judges and we are proud to announce

  • 1st place was awarded to Monserrat Ruvalcaba

  • 2nd place was awarded to Angela Cobos Fernandez and

  • 3rd place was awarded to Alejandra Garcia Chacon!
