Student Art Spotlight: Laney Esmoil
Laney is a Junior this year, and has enjoyed Ceramics 2!


A group of West Liberty HS students attended the Build My Future event on Tuesday. This hands-on event showcased a variety of career opportunities. Students could engage with industry professionals and learn about training programs from across the state.










Today is SIOP Graduation Day for our 2022-2023 new teachers! SIOP stands for the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol Model, which is a research-based instructional model that is effective in addressing the needs of English learners.


These AMAZING ladies, Deb Kivi, Katie Thrasher, and Veronica Rivera, do a spectacular job in the High School! They help our students and staff with any issues that arise and keep us moving forward! We love our High School All-Stars! Happy Administrative Professionals Day!


The Comet Boys Soccer team was ranked 4th in the state in class 1A as of Sunday, April 23rd! Last night, the Comets had a 10 to 0 win over Monticello. They travel on Friday to play #5 ranked Iowa City Regina. The boys are now 8-1. #WLCometPride #LetsgoComets

Lily is a senior and loves cats! Lily enjoys working with felt, clay, colored pencils, and alcohol markers.


Trap results from this weekend: Morgan Hodge received a 2nd place medal for singles following a shoot off after being tied for first! Kaden earned 3rd place medals in singles and handicap! Awesome job Comets!

Shane is a senior this year. Ceramics 2 was Shane's first art class in 3 years. His favorite part was being able to learn how to throw on the pottery wheels.

"When will I use this outside of class!?" Ms. Hearn's (Mrs. Harvey's student teacher and replacement after this year!) Technical Math students at West Liberty High School converted metric units for an edible cookie dough recipe then checked their work by making the edible cookie dough and seeing how it turned out!

Comet Career Fair! West Liberty juniors and seniors had the opportunity to explore 26 different companies and career paths today!! Thank you to everyone who played a role in exposing our students to the different options they have after high school!





This Friday the WLHS Improv group, The Part-Time Simpletons will be taking the stage in the High School Auditorium for a night of comedy starting at 7:00 pm! You won't want to miss this performance!


Ms. Deb Weiss, former AP Art History teacher, taught a lecture on 19th century art in our Western Civilizations concurrent enrollment class yesterday. The students are learning how neoclassical, romanticism and realism are a reflection of political and social upheaval. Deb is currently a docent for the Stanley Art Museum and is a Brick Street committee member.
