We Can See Clearly Now! Thank You Vision To Learn!

Vision To Learn has been working with West Liberty Community School District since 2017 and has provided 739 West Liberty students with access to vision care!  We are so grateful for this partnership!  On Thursday, April 27th Vision To learn delivered more than 42 pair of glasses to students in the Early Learning Center and it was a truly rewarding experience.  Vision To Learn Optician, Nichole Montavon taught students about caring for their glasses, assisted as they tried them on, and adjusted them to assure the best fit.  As each child gazed through the lenses for the first time their amazement and awe touched all of our hearts!  Some of our favorite quotes of the day were:

"Things aren't blurry anymore!"

"I can see the end of the hallway!"

"I want some (glasses) for my brother!"

This year with the help of National Vision To Learn Program Director, Corrine Kroger and West Liberty ELC/Elementary Nurse, Kayla Morrison we were able to pilot a program with West Liberty students who already have a provider.  Vision To Learn was able to get new glasses for over 40 patients using their current prescriptions.  This allowed more time to provide screening and eye exams to other students.  Already this year Vision To Learn has helped:

  • 1,105 WLCSD students with a vision screening
  • 172 WLCSD students with an eye exam
  • 164 WLCSD students with eyeglasses

This has had a HUGE impact on student learning, and there are more visits planned for this Spring!  We can not thank Vision To Learn and their program funders enough!  We would also like to thank our Nurses, Kayla Morrison, Katie Hochstetler, and Tana Deahr for helping to coordinate screenings and exams!  If you would like to learn more about Vision To Learn - Iowa or how to donate to this program please click the following links - Vision to Learn Iowa Flyer, and the  Vision to Learn Website.
