Crews continue to take advantage of some great weather at the new athletic complex south of the high school. This afternoon the final touches will be put on the new football/soccer field. Did you know that there is 7 lbs of fill every square foot on that field? It looks amazing and we can't wait to see our Comets performing on the new field. You will also notice a fence being installed around the outside of the track. This is the first of many fencing projects around the complex. This fence will keep spectators separated from the track and field. There are several gates to access areas inside the fence. Fencing will also be added around both the baseball and softball fields as they get completed, as well as a perimeter fence that will go around the entire complex.
Electrical and plumbing work has continued inside the concession and restroom building. Doors and interior walls will be installed soon as crews finalize the plumbing and electrical work inside the walls and above the ceiling.
If you've seen all the dump trucks full of rock going through town, you won't be surprised at the progress on the baseball and softball fields. The softball field will be the next field to be completed as crews work to get the baseball field ready. The curb has been poured around the softball field, and by the end of the weekend, slabs for both dugouts will be in, as well as slabs for under the pitcher's circle and batters boxes.
The baseball field is not far behind, it just takes much longer due to the size of the field.
As we have each week, we want to thank the public for staying out of this area. This is for your safety and the safety of all the workers. You can get a great view of the complex from the walking trail on the east side of the facility. With the continued increase in truck traffic, and crews working on the weekends, we ask for your continued cooperation.
Thank you!
