Crews continue to make significant progress on the West Liberty Athletic Complex, despite the weather this week.
Concrete pads have now been poured at both the softball and baseball fields for bullpens and outdoor batting cages. The bullpens on both fields will be turf with a fence around them. These areas will be great for not only use during games but also give our teams plenty of practice space during the season.
Sidewalks and slabs have also been poured behind the backstops at each field. As crews continue to finish, and less heavy machinery is on site, sidewalks will begin to be completed in front of the concession stand and at the entrance to the complex.
The fence that will go around the entire perimeter has also started to be installed. The fence will allow us to bring all spectators into the complex through the one main entrance. Every person entering the complex, when complete, will walk by our donor recognition sign that will be installed at a later date.
The concession stand also continues to take shape on the inside, and next week will see work being done on the outside of the building.
Lastly, weather permitting, crews will begin laying down the top layer of track material on the new track TOMORROW! This is exciting news and a huge step in the right direction of being able to welcome home track meets back to West Liberty. With this happening, all gates will be closed and padlocked around the track, and the football/soccer field will again be off-limits. We would ask for the public's cooperation in staying out of the entire construction site. With the rain, there are areas of ground that have settled, creating hazards walking around the facility. The mud is also a concern and we want to keep that off of all finished work.
Thank you for your understanding.
