Despite the wet weather at the end of the week, crews made some great progress at the athletic complex this week. Turf crews will put the finishing touches on the baseball field and all four bullpens early next week. Once finished, this will allow fencing around the baseball field and bullpens to be completed, as well as backstop padding on both the baseball and softball fields. Bases on both fields will also be set into place yet this fall.
You might also notice some new landscaping on site. 10 trees were planted this week. This is just a start and you may see more next spring. You will also notice grass finally starting to grow in areas. This is something we have been working closely with contractors on due to the drought conditions this summer, and the cold weather right around the corner. We hope to have grass growing in high-traffic areas next spring.
Crews also began some of the finish grading work around the complex before the wet weather hit this week. They will get back to work on this once they are able to get their machines safely out on site without getting them stuck in the mud.
We greatly appreciate everyone's patience as this project continues to move forward with the end in sight. We continue to ask members of the public to stay out of the construction site due to construction vehicle traffic, and wet conditions, and allowing the track to properly set and cure before walking on it.
Thank you for your cooperation.
