With some great progress being made recently, we thought we would give you an update on the athletic complex project at the high school. Visitor bleachers have started to be installed at the new stadium. When completed, these bleachers will be ADA-compliant with ramp access at the north end and ADA seating in the first row.
The contractor installing the fencing at the complex was back this week. Gates are starting to be installed around the perimeter fence, along with the gates for the bullpens. They have also been reinforcing fencing around the site by installing a bar around the bottom of the fence, similar to the bar at the top of the fencing. This makes all parts of the fence more sturdy and secure.
Earthworks contractors have been busy moving dirt and working on the final grade of the project. This work will continue until all truck traffic is off the site. These crews have also started the installation of a rock border that will go around all four bullpens.
Plumbers and electricians have been hard at work over the last several weeks - much of their work going unseen as it is happening underground or inside the concession and restroom building. Toilets and sinks have been installed, partitions are being completed, countertops have started going in... this part of the project will be another huge upgrade from our current facilities at our baseball and softball fields, as well as the current Memorial Field across the street. Along with the work inside this building, siding work on the outside of the building, along with the ticket booth continues.
Preparations are also being made to install the stadium scoreboard. Recently it was decided to move this slightly closer to the track. This accounted for a slight delay in getting this done, however, this delay should not impact anything significant in the overall project, and moving the scoreboard should be completed this winter.
We would once again like to thank the community for staying out of the complex construction site. There are still many vehicles and workers at the site every day, and your safety, along with theirs, is always important to us. There are also still significant areas of mud that we do not want to be tracked around the area. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
