Dear Students and Families,
We understand that this year has not been easy for anyone, and we are very grateful for your continued support and understanding during this ever-changing time. West Liberty School District is committed to ensuring the safety of our students and staff as we continue through the 2020 -2021 school year. After meeting with our Administrators, communicated with School Board Members, and Trinity Muscatine Public Health over the weekend to discuss next steps regarding the Muscatine County positivity rate of 21.4% and significant student and staff absences (17 teachers and 5 paraprofessionals in one building alone), we must inform you that the West Liberty Community School District has submitted an application to the Iowa Department of Education for “Temporary Permission to Provide Primarily Continuous Remote Learning” from November 10th to November 24th, reopening for in-person learning on November 30th. We will be following up with you regarding the approval of this application, however, we wanted to provide as much notice as possible. While we know that this is an inconvenience for your family, we need to do the safest thing possible for our students, staff, and community and move to virtual learning for the next two weeks. We will be working to deep clean our buildings thoroughly during this time so that we are ready to go when we can return. Please feel free to reach out to your child’s building principal with additional questions regarding the virtual learning process. Listed below are some bulleted items that you need to know at this time.
