6th graders continue their study of the newspaper as part of their informational writing unit.
On Friday, February 2nd the West Liberty Middle School participated in a spelling bee that was sponsored by the Knights Of Columbus. Students in grades 5th, 6th and 7th had the option to participate. There were a total of 38 students who elected to participate. The top three students in each grade can advance to the regional bee which will be held in Cedar Rapids on February 18th. In 5th grade the winner was Jordan Escobedo with 2nd place going to Daniel Seemuth and 3rd place was David Anderson. In 6th grade the winner was Paola Acosta Rivera, 2nd place was Alex Simon and 3rd place was Iver Dong. In 7th grade the winner was Georgia Clark, 2nd place was Lili Anderson and 3rd went to Rachel Tharp.
Sandy Pistole of the WL Index came to 6th grade art to introduce advertisements and talk about the newspaper. 6th graders are researching local WL businesses then drawing. #WLMS

8th graders have started working on their four year plans! Ms. Ramsey is coming over during Careers to help students plan for their high school years and beyond.
Neither snow, nor wintery mix, nor school delay will keep our Backpack Program from getting food out to students. Huge thanks to West Liberty Foods for delivering it to our district and 7th-grade Character Ed students for delivering it to the buildings.
