Middle school students started their day sprucing up the courtyard. Students from Ms. Rex's, Mr. Schultze's and Mr.Beal's classes joined forces to plant flowers.and do some spring cleaning. The flowers are from the FFA plant sale.

Today we celebrate our amazing School Nurses! Join us in thanking High School Nurse Tana Deahr, Middle School Nurse Katie Hochstetler, and ELC/Elementary Nurse Kayla Morrison for always doing their best to keep our Comets healthy and safe! #WLComets #SchoolNursesDay #SchoolNursesRock

Mrs. Madsen's 6th Grade Science Enrichment class finally completed their March/April Madness Bridge Building Competition!
Groups built 8 different bridges from K'Nex and engaged them in a head-to-head load bearing competition. The winning bridge type was the Short Span Beam which held 17,655 grams of steel weights! That's 38.9 lbs! Thanks to Mr. Gross and Wertzbaugher Services for the extra steel needed to fully test these bridges.
Groups were then assigned one of the four weakest bridges and had to re-engineer them to hold more weight, using what they had learned about bridge supports. So much STEM FUN!

On Friday students read about 5 de Mayo in Spanish World Cultures and Spanish Literacy during Ms.Fernandez’s 7th grade classes.
They learned that 5 de Mayo is not Mexico‘s Independence Day, it is to celebrate Mexican Culture. Some enjoyed chips and salsa from Puebla Restaurant!

6th graders learned about an Inca counting tool called a Quipu. Students then had the opportunity to make their own Quipus about their lives.

The 2023-24 WLMS Student Council collaborated with Mr. Beal’s class for a cleanup project around the middle school in recognition of Earth Day!
Attention families: This morning a fender bender occurred involving a WLCSD school bus near Nichols. The bus driver and the 15 students on the bus were ok, there were no injuries. Another bus was disbursed to bring the students safely to school. As always the safety of our students and staff comes first, and we are thankful that no one was injured in this incident.
